A charming and rare set of two vintage mocha or espresso cups with matching saucers, crafted by the renowned German porcelain manufacturer Fürstenberg in the 1950s.
The set captivates with its delicate, partially hand-colored linework in the unmistakable mid-century illustration style of the 1950s.
The artfully detailed and lovingly crafted motifs poetically capture the nostalgic, vibrant atmosphere of the era. Each porcelain piece features a different design. Iconic Parisian scenes and characters are depicted:
A traffic policeman ("Agent de Circulation") amidst period classic cars beneath the Eiffel Tower, ladies knitting in a park, the Pont Neuf, a scene in a street café at the Place de la Paix, historic metro signs, pigeons perched on cast-iron lampposts, and the quintessential Parisian concierge accompanied by elegantly drawn cats.
Made from high-quality, wafer-thin Fürstenberg porcelain. The underside of each piece bears the traditional underglaze blue factory mark along with the corresponding model and decoration numbers.
