The composition layers monstera, broad-leaf tropicals and flowering branches in earthy greens, ochre and coral against a warm natural ground. The original painted textile has sold, and this print captures the full design at near-original scale.

How it was printed: a 44-inch-wide archival print on paper is almost certainly a giclée, made on a large-format inkjet printer. Those only became common from the late 1990s.
When she painted the original: probably anytime from the 1980s onward, but the print itself was most likely made in the 2000s or 2010s, before she died.

Beckmann was a California textile artist known for her batik and hand-painted fabrics. The print is unsigned and is one of a small number produced from the original artwork. It is new and ready to frame, with standard framing or float mounting recommended. The sheet measures 44 inches wide by 55 inches high, with an image area of 38 by 48 inches. Made in the United States. The exact print date is unknown; it was produced during the artist’s lifetime.

This piece was acquired directly from the Barbara Beckmann estate by Heather Kearsley Wolf, a longtime friend and collaborator of the artist. See less
