A driftwood campfire burns in a small, sheltered cove … Read more A pencil signed limited edition print of Stephen Lyman's "Beach Bonfire." A driftwood campfire burns in a small, sheltered cove at dusk, its light raking across the sand and the weathered logs, with sea stacks, breaking surf and a violet evening sky beyond. Lyman described it as a different kind of campfire scene, built around the whole experience of the place: the sea spray, the sound of the surf and the driftwood.

Pencil signed by the artist, with the plate signature "Stephen Lyman ©95" in the image. The edition was 6,500 signed and numbered prints.

Stephen Lyman (1957-1996) grew up in the Pacific Northwest, worked as an illustrator in Los Angeles and returned to Idaho to paint the wilderness full time. He was known for his paintings of campfire light and drew on trips to Yosemite, Denali, the Canadian Rockies and northern Idaho. The Greenwich Workshop published his first limited edition print in 1983. He died in 1996 while climbing in Yosemite National Park.

Comes with the print's original paperwork, titled "Beach Bonfire by Stephen Lyman." Framed under glass in a dark cherry wood frame with a rose mat, a blue-gray inner mat and a gold fillet, by Old Town Art Framery in Fort Collins, whose label is on the back.
