A pencil signed and numbered limited edition print of Carl Brenders' "Canadian Lynx Triptych," released by Mill Pond Press in January 1993. Three panels follow a Canada lynx among the rocks and pine needles: curled up with its eyes closed beside a weathered branch, stretched out long in a full-body stretch, and stepping out across the slope with its ear tufts raised. Every hair, needle and lichen-covered stone is drawn in fine pencil.
Offset lithograph printed by Micro Colorgraphics on acid-free, pH neutral museum paper, published from Brenders' 1992 pencil drawings on illustration board. Pencil signed by the artist at lower right and numbered 1406/1750 at lower left, with the plate signature "© C Brenders 92" in the image. The margin carries the title and the Latin name, Felis lynx. The edition was 1,750 signed and numbered prints plus 76 artist's proofs.
The triptych was released at the same time as Brenders' lynx painting "In Northern Hunting Grounds," in the same edition size. Our copy of that print, also numbered 1406/1750, is listed separately in our shop.
Carl Brenders was born in 1937 near Antwerp, Belgium, and studied at the Fine Arts Academy in Antwerp and later in Berchem. He illustrated more than 20 books in the series The Secret Life of Animals, and his work has been shown regularly in the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's "Birds in Art" exhibition.
Comes with the original Mill Pond Press folder with its edition label and the certificate of authenticity.
