Fluted uprights, gilt leaf ornaments and a central lion’s-head mask at the lower edge give the mirror its characteristic Empire character.
The upper section contains a rectangular relief panel carved with a classical figural scene. Figures, horses and putti are shown in a dynamic composition typical of the period’s interest in antique motifs. The gilt ornaments at the upper corners are slightly chipped and have been restored, as is consistent with age and use.
The mirror retains a strong architectural presence and works well as a wall piece in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
