This sterling silver child's Kiddush cup features a traditional flared-rim silhouette with an ornamental scroll handle and an applied relief cartouche depicting floral motifs and the Hebrew inscription "ילדה טובה" (Yaldah Tova / Good Girl). Crafted in .925 sterling silver with a lightly gilded wash interior, this vessel exemplifies mid-to-late 20th-century ceremonial Judaica designed for birth celebrations, baby naming's, and early family ritual observance. Its solid construction, tactile low-relief lettering, and classic proportion give it a timeless decorative presence suitable for both ritual use and display.
Design Significance & Historical Context: This small sterling silver vessel represents the intimate domestic traditions of Jewish ceremonial art, specifically crafted for celebrating newborn daughters through birth and naming rituals. The cup features a classic flared rim, an ornate acanthus-scroll handle, and an applied cast cartouche bearing the Hebrew phrase Yaldah Tova ("Good Girl") flanked by relief blossoms. Finished with a gilt interior wash to protect the metal during ceremonial wine tasting, it serves equally as a functional heirloom and a charming tabletop accent.
Curator's Note: A delicate piece of ritual silver with lovely relief craftsmanship. Showing soft wear and a gentle lower side-wall impression from authentic domestic use, it is perfect for styling on a nursery shelf, adding a layer of personal heritage to a bar cart vignette, or presenting as a thoughtful vintage ceremonial gift.
