The oil painting on hardboard titled "Daisies and sunflowers" is a vibrant and expressive floral composition that radiates warmth, joy, and the essence of summer in full bloom. At the heart of the artwork is a glass vase brimming with a rich, dynamic bouquet of yellow sunflowers and white daisies, with a single pink rose adding a unique accent to the otherwise sun-drenched color palette. This piece captures the exuberance of nature and translates it into a bold, textured visual language that feels both timeless and spontaneous. The bouquet dominates the canvas, bursting outward in every direction with thick, confident strokes of oil paint. The sunflowers, large and golden, are the centerpiece of the composition. Their petals fan out like solar flares, painted in warm yellows and deep oranges, each bloom radiating energy. The centers are rendered in earthy browns and hints of crimson, grounding the brightness with their dense, circular forms. The sunflowers are unapologetically bold — a symbol of life, light, and growth — and here they are given full expression through the artist’s emotive brushwork. Interwoven with the sunflowers are clusters of white daisies. These delicate blooms add a sense of lightness and contrast, their soft petals painted with quick, swirling gestures that create a sense of movement. The daisies feel like laughter among the sunflowers' bold declarations — gentle, pure, and fresh. They offer a beautiful balance, highlighting the complexity and diversity found in even the simplest bouquet. Perhaps the most surprising element in the painting is the pink rose, rising confidently near the upper right side of the bouquet. Its presence feels like a whisper of romance or memory, something deeply personal tucked into an otherwise cheerful and open display. The rose’s pink hue stands out against the yellows and whites, suggesting a story hidden within the composition — perhaps a gift, a symbol of affection, or an unexpected moment of beauty. The vase itself is rendered with expressive layers of blues, purples, and black, reflecting the colors of the flowers while grounding the composition in cooler tones. It sits solidly on a pale surface that appears textured and light-filled, almost like a sunlit table in a country kitchen. Around it, the brushstrokes are loose and abstract, giving the suggestion of shadows and space without clearly defining the background.
