An exceptional, monumental pair of late 19th-century French Louis XVI style bronze and gilt-bronze five-light figural candelabras. Standing an impressive 23 inches tall and weighing a combined 26 pounds, these statuesque pieces possess the magnificent scale and architectural presence required to anchor a grand dining room table, entryway console, or a formal fireplace mantelpiece.
ART HISTORICAL STYLING & PROVENANCE
The masterfully cast bodies feature twin classical Caryatid figures adorned with finely detailed, draped floral garlands. The figures seamlessly transition down to ornate, neoclassical scrolling foliate supports, resting upon circular black marble-style bases finished with heavy, stepped bronze scroll feet.
Intertwined among the sweeping, foliate-molded bronze candle branches is an exquisite, unusually dense display of hand-modeled and delicately hand-painted porcelain flowers. Executed in the prestigious 18th-century Vincennes and Meissen ceramic traditions, the colorful botanical array features vibrant multi-colored roses, anemones, and field blooms that add a soft, romantic texture to the rigid brilliance of the French bronze work.
