Created with a deliberately tactile, hand-worked surface, the sculpture has a rich brown terracotta-like finish that emphasizes the deeply modeled facial features and gives the piece an almost archaeological quality.

The rectangular base is prominently incised “VOLTAIRE.” On the reverse is a hand-inscribed date that appears to read “1 FEV 1980”, along with additional unidentified artist initials or marks.

At approximately 15 inches tall and an impressive 21.3 pounds, this is a substantial decorative sculpture with excellent visual presence. Especially appealing for a library, study, office, bookshelf or collected interior.

Approx. 6"W × 8"D × 15"H.

Good vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear, irregularities and small losses consistent with the hand-worked character of the piece. Please see photos. See less
