This highly ornate and striking vintage vessel is a traditional Chinese ewer (teapot), masterfully crafted in white bronze. The design is rich with traditional auspicious symbolism. The body is centered with a large, beautifully detailed roundel depicting a peach (symbolizing longevity) surrounded by flying bats (homophones for good fortune in Chinese). The piece features a highly sculptural handle topped with a bird finial, an elegantly curved spout flanked by a dragon head, and a prominent mythical beast face where the spout meets the body. The domed lid is crowned with a finial resembling a bird and lotus elements. The silver-tone metal boasts a rich, naturally aged patina in the recessed areas, highlighting the incredible high-relief craftsmanship. Weighing over 2.5 pounds, this intricate piece is a stunning conversation starter and a magnificent display object for a mantel, bookshelf, or collector's cabinet.
