Many featured scenes of royalty, hunting and animals. The fish symbolized abundance, fertility and blessings and this tile is rare in both its size and oval shape. The piece is imperfect in the way antique, hand-made tiles were done - the paint has appropriate bleeding, the clay is not perfectly smooth, the image has been hand-painted. There are some nics, crazing and pitting appropriate with age.

The back is unglazed and unmarked. The tile measures 10.75" x 7.5" and comes from a non-smoking home. See less
