This majestic vintage Buddha statue is a superb example of traditional Asian metalwork. Expertly cast in bronze and finished with a rich gold gilt, the figure depicts Shakyamuni Buddha seated in the traditional lotus position (Padmasana).
The sculpture features a serene, full face with downcast eyes, representing deep meditation and compassion. The intricate high-relief casting captures the elegant, rhythmic folds of the Buddha's robe draped over one shoulder, while the right hand reaches down in the "earth-touching" mudra (Bhumisparsha), symbolizing the moment of enlightenment. He rests upon a beautifully detailed, double-lotus pedestal. The piece boasts a warm, naturally aged patina that enhances its profound, majestic presence. Weighing over 3.7 pounds, this substantial and sacred figure is perfect for an altar, a meditation room, or as a striking, serene focal point in a sophisticated living space.
