Calvan, a painter known for his atmospheric Paris street scenes of the 1960s–70s. Calvan was reportedly born in Frankfurt, trained in Rome, and worked in Paris.

This piece shows a moody Paris quay on a rainy day. The white dome of Sacré-Cœur rises above golden buildings, bare trees, and small figures with colorful umbrellas. It's painted in Calvan's signature textured, palette-knife style with rich impasto, so the surface has visible depth and movement up close.

Signed "CALVAN" lower right. It's presented in its original distressed gilt wood frame with a linen liner, typical of the period.
