Italian table lamp from the 1970s, made of metal, Perspex, and opal glass and conceived in the New Lamp style. The structure has a strong geometric and architectural approach: a rectangular metal base supports a cubic Perspex casing that encloses a spherical opal glass diffuser at its center. When turned on, the central sphere diffuses a soft, uniform light, while the surrounding Perspex surfaces generate reflections and visual multiplications of the globe, giving the lamp a strongly sculptural and scenographic character. The contrast between the rigidity of the cubic volume and the perfectly circular shape of the diffuser evokes the experimental, “Space Age” design language of Italian lighting from the 1970s—offering a bold, yet remarkably clean, decorative presence. The piece shows normal signs of age and use, consistent with its age.
