Featuring curved wooden shells in a warm brown finish, black leather seat cushions and distinctive black metal three-legged frames, these chairs combine sculptural character with an inviting, enveloping shape. Originally designed in 1984 for Café Costes in Paris, the Costes chair became one of Starck’s most recognisable creations. The design marked the beginning of his collaboration with Driade and helped establish his international reputation. Its striking silhouette captures the imaginative approach of the French designer, whose work spans furniture, everyday objects and interiors. The signature three-legged construction gives the chair its unmistakable profile, while the curved backrest flows around the seat to form integrated armrests. Condition In good overall condition, with visible signs of use, including surface marks to the wooden shells and wear and creasing to the leather seats.
