A set of four high-backed Historismus chairs made in Italy in the 19th century. The frames are of solid oak with straight legs joined by H-stretchers. The tall backs and seats are upholstered in a well-preserved floral tapestry in muted tones of beige, green and brown, finished with a continuous row of nailheads around the edges of the backs and seats.
The chairs are in ready-to-use condition, with the upholstery remaining intact and the oak frames showing the character of age. The high backs and substantial proportions give them a strong presence suited to a dining or formal seating arrangement.
