An exceptional multi-part vintage studio pottery wall hanging by renowned Michigan artist Doug DeLind (American, b. 1947). This two-piece clay relief sculpture features a stylized, cubist abstract human face and abstract bust. Masterfully executed using traditional Japanese raku-firing techniques, the piece showcases a dramatic interplay of metallic flash glazes, crackle textures, and smoky, unglazed earthenware.
The upper section highlights a bi-tonal split face with delicate incised details and pointillist puncture accents, while the lower ribbed structural section grounds the composition. Together, they create a commanding mid-century modern or brutalist focal point. Both panels are equipped with secure wire backings for clean wall mounting.
