Heavy mist hangs in the air above a stand of slender flowering trees, still sparse and only beginning to leaf. The spare composition, a low dark field beneath a broad mauve and rose sky, gives the scene its stillness.

Lois Haskell is a Pacific Northwest landscape painter who has exhibited with Parklane Gallery, the artist-owned cooperative in Kirkland, Washington. This original oil on stretched canvas is signed lower left and undated, likely painted in the early 21st century, and a printed label on the frame verso gives the title and artist’s surname. The painting is presented in a gold-finish frame with mottled black distressing and a black inner lip, and it measures 13.5 by 13.5 inches framed.
