Carved from beautifully mottled gray-green stone, likely serpentine, the sculpture features elongated bodies, expressive faces, intricately detailed feet, and sweeping curved tails that create a wonderful sense of movement and balance.

Rooted in the tradition of Zimbabwean Shona stone carving, the sculpture combines organic naturalism with a bold, almost modernist sensibility. Its sculptural silhouette, earthy coloration, and whimsical animal subject make it an exceptional statement piece for a curated interior, equally suited to Mid-Century Modern, Organic Modern, Brutalist, or eclectic spaces.

Hand-carved with beautiful attention to detail, the sculpture is signed Mushambe on the underside, likely the work of Zimbabwean sculptor Simon Mushambe, whose stone carvings are documented in historical auction records.
