This … Read more Original 1950s solid maple dining table designed by Paul McCobb (1916-1969) and built by Winchendon Furniture in Winchendon, MA. This table was part of McCobb’s famous “Planner Group” line and is as functional as the day it was produced perhaps 75 years ago.

This table has two drop down leaves that extend up on hinges to 56” long with both extended or 41” with just one extended. With neither it is 27” wide and can be tucked into a small space. The table is 36” deep and rises to 29” off the floor.

The table is overall in excellent condition given its age. The most prominent wear includes a number of small nick marks on the tabletop and some areas of discoloration on the table top. See the photos -- two near the end show the nicks. These are not particularly perceptible unless one is right next to the table. The areas of discoloration are consistent with age. To the best of our knowledge, the table has never been refinished.

Paul McCobb hailed from Medfield, MA, worked much of his life in New York City, and is considered one of America’s great mid-century designers. See less
