Pair of italian wall sconces dating from the 1950s, characterized by geometric arms in black lacquered brass, round brass wall plates and spherical opaline glass diffusers. Each opaline glass globe is suspended from its own flexible, cross-shaped metal support, a distinctive construction detail. The sharply angled arms give the lamps a graphic, architectural profile, balanced by the softer, rounded forms of the glass globes.
the opaline glass provides a soft and even light diffusion, while the contrast between natural brass, black lacquered brass and white glass gives these vintage wall sconces / wall lamps / appliqués a distinctive mid-century modern character.
the brass surfaces retain their natural vintage patina, with oxidation, tonal variations and minor signs of age. The black lacquered brass elements show light age-related wear, while the opaline glass globes are in good vintage condition. Overall in very good vintage condition.
