Two birds stand entwined on a naturalistic oval base of reeds and water, modeled in luminous white glaze with delicate grey-blue shading to the plumage and bills. At 15 inches it is one of Herend's larger bird sculptures and reads as a true decorative object: a mantel, console or entry-table centerpiece rather than a cabinet figurine.

Signed with the blue Herend mark to the underside. Mid-to-late 20th century.

Condition: one bird has a broken toe; the detached fragment is included and fits cleanly back in place, a straightforward repair for a porcelain restorer. Otherwise no chips, cracks or repairs. Priced to reflect the toe.

Approx. 15" H x 9" W x 7" D. From a Connecticut estate. See less
