A unique decorative natural-history display featuring real butterfly specimens arranged among faux white flowers and foliage against a deep black background. The composition is set in a substantial wood shadowbox with layered molding and a gilt inner frame.
The reverse retains its original palette-shaped label for Colorificio Cornici – Belle Arti Ronchetti, Viale della Pace 122, Vicenza, Italy. The label identifies a paint, framing, and fine-arts shop and gives the piece a distinctive Italian framing history.
The exact date of the arrangement is unknown, and the butterfly species have not been identified. The butterflies are real specimens; the flowers and foliage are faux. Vintage wear is visible on the frame and inner molding; please see photos.
