An impressive matching pair of monumental classical Bacchus sculptures, each standing an impressive 78 inches tall. Offered together as a pair, these magnificent life-size figures embody the grandeur, sophistication, and timeless elegance of European classical sculpture. With their commanding scale, beautifully modeled anatomy, and dramatic upward gestures, this remarkable pair evokes the splendor of grand Italian villas, aristocratic European estates, and the formal gardens of historic palaces.
Inspired by the artistic traditions of ancient Greece and Rome, both sculptures depict Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, celebration, and abundance. Each youthful male figure is portrayed in an elegant contrapposto pose, crowned with richly detailed grape leaves and foliage. Both figures dramatically extend one arm toward the heavens while holding clusters of grapes in the opposite hand, creating a harmonious and visually striking sculptural pairing.
The two sculptures complement one another beautifully, with subtle variations in their facial expressions, poses, and anatomical modeling. Their finely rendered features, flowing curls, naturalistic musculature, and carefully articulated details recall the celebrated marble statuary of the Renaissance and Neoclassical periods.
Both figures are constructed from fiberglass and finished in a white, stone-like surface that captures the appearance of classical marble sculpture. Each rests upon its own integral rectangular base, allowing the pair to be positioned together or displayed symmetrically on opposite sides of an architectural setting.
Standing an impressive six and a half feet tall, this exceptional pair would make a spectacular statement flanking a grand entrance, adorning a formal garden, conservatory, covered terrace, or serving as commanding focal points within a luxurious residential or commercial interior.
The offering consists of two individual, complementary Bacchus sculptures, sold together as one pair.
