Circa 1950-60. … Read more Impressionist mountain landscape painting by Bernard Lennon (1914-1992). Oil paint on masonite board. Signed lower right corner, Lennon. Circa 1950-60. The framing treatment consists of a beautifully carved and parcel gilt wood frame. Good overall condition with minor cosmetic wear due to age. No visible missing surface paint. Some light crazing and paint crackle. Structurally sound and sturdy.

The approximate measurements of the board are 8" wide x 6" high. The frame depth is approximately 1.75".

Bernard Lennon was born in Milton, Massachusetts, in 1914, and studied at The Massachusetts School of Art. Later, he lived in New York City, and in Gaylordsville, Connecticut, where he mentored students in Contemporary Impressionism.

Lennon painted until his death in 1992. Some of his students continue to live and paint in the Gaylordsville area. Among the venues where the artist was known to have exhibited is The Parrish Art Museum, in Southampton, New York. See less
