High period chest in oak.
Very nice high period chest late sixteenth early seventeenth oak in very good condition.
It is decorated with a rich decoration of interlacing punctuated with oves for the panels of the facade and floral, geometric and architectural motifs (flutes in imitation of pilasters) for the other elements. This repertoire is inspired by the collections of ornaments of the Renaissance, and recalls the motifs invented by ornamentalists such as Jacques Androuet Du Cerceau or Etienne Delaune. The Musée Départemental Breton in Quimper has several chests with an ornamental repertoire comparable to ours. The example we present here is nevertheless distinguished by the richness and refinement of its decoration. Work from the West of France
