Full Description
Bring timeless French elegance to your space with this magnificent pair of authentic antique Louis XVI Style twin-light wall sconces. Masterfully crafted in the neoclassical revival style, these heavy, hollow-cast fixtures feature a tapered backplate adorned with draped laurel swags, elegant scrolling acanthus leaf candle arms, and are beautifully surmounted by classical flaming urn finials.
The back of the fixtures showcases the raw, rough-textured craftsmanship of traditional sand-cast metalwork, complete with original structural assembly and period cloth-covered arm wiring.
Vintage Modification & Wiring Note:
To accommodate modern convenience, this pair was retrofitted in the mid-to-late 20th century with a localized plastic rotary turn switch located on the lower portion of the backplate. They are currently configured to wire directly into a standard modern wall junction box.
For purists and historic restorations, these switches can easily be removed, and the small mounting holes plugged by a professional lighting restorer to return the sconces to their original seamless appearance. Otherwise, they offer a wonderful, practical option for homeowners who appreciate localized switch operation!
