These two identical cabinets each feature two stacked compartments with fitted glass-front doors that lift upward and slide back into the case, providing full access to the interior. These were manufactured by The General Fireproofing Co. in Youngstown, Ohio, most likely between 1930-1950.

Raised on an integrated steel base with squared legs (4.75" high), each cabinet has a utilitarian, architectural presence. The lift-up, slide-back glass doors were designed to protect the contents from dust, water, and fire damage. The expansive glass fronts make the pieces well suited for displaying books, objects, ceramics, collectibles, or merchandise; they also fit records with the glass doors remaining open; the records extend about .5" beyond the bottom interior shelf.

The cabinets retain an intentional industrial vintage appearance, with scratches, scuffs, finish loss, marks and areas of oxidation consistent with age and previous use. These imperfections contribute to their authentic character. Please refer closely to photographs for conditions.

Note that the depth of the cabinets is 13.5" with glass doors closed, and 16.5" deep when open. The dimensions of the internal shelves are 33" W x 11 & 7/8" D x 13 9/16" H. See less
