tage magnus gavik (1914–1981) was a prominent swedish modernist painter from gothenburg. He received his formal artistic training at the renowned hovedskou art school (hovedskous målarskola) and frequently exhibited his works at the gothenburg art hall (göteborgs konsthall). Gavik is highly celebrated for his structural, geometric representations of architecture, cityscapes, and vivid landscapes captured during his travels through southern europe. His works are internationally represented, including the collections of the swedish clubs in new york and rhodes, as well as the gothenburg museum.

the painting is signed on the front in the lower center: "gavik". It is also hand-titled and signed by the artist on the reverse of the canvas: "sitke, spanien". It remains housed in its premium original mid-century wooden frame with a classic fabric liner.
