“Pequeña Historia” [Little History] is a signed and numbered color lithograph created in 1965 by Argentine artist Antonio Seguí (1934–2022), shortly after his permanent move to Paris.
Structured as a dense grid of miniature scenes, the composition brings together figures, faces, animals, machines, silhouettes and recurring symbols. Individual episodes appear almost comic in isolation, while together they form a more ambiguous observation of human behaviour, social ritual and modern life.
Seguí combines a disciplined geometric structure with the deliberately exaggerated figurative language that became central to his work. from a distance, the lithograph reads through its blocks of muted violet, ochre, rose and blue-grey; at closer range, dozens of individual incidents and visual jokes emerge.
The work is signed and dated in pencil at the lower right and numbered 2/46 at the lower left.
The edition is particularly well documented. Another impression of Pequeña Historia, numbered 26/46, is held by the Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas at Austin, where the work is recorded as a 1965 color lithograph.
Seguí settled permanently in Paris in 1963 and developed an extensive international career. His work entered major public collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
Presented in a substantial vintage glazed frame with a wide period mount. The generous framing gives the relatively intricate composition a strong architectural presence while retaining its original vintage presentation. This piece has an attribution mark,
