Artist Statement

The creation of art has been a lifelong pursuit. My practice is rooted in the physical processes of painting, drawing, cutting, and printing—of layering color on canvas, marking paper, and carving into wood. When I look at my work, I recall the act of making it; the labor and repetition are inseparable from the finished image.

The process itself allows for a meditative engagement through which feelings, stories, and ideas emerge and evolve. Much of my work is informed by physical experience rather than narrative description. Words require structure—a beginning and an end—while visual art remains open to ambiguity, contradiction, and personal interpretation. It is within this openness that my work resides. See less
