Designed by celebrated Danish designer Hans J. Wegner and manufactured in Denmark by Andreas Tuck, this vintage AT-48 serving trolley brings sculptural warmth and versatility to everyday living.
Its beautifully figured wood top features a gently raised, shaped edge and distinctive corner cutouts that nest around the rounded frame uprights. The top lifts off for use as a separate serving tray, while the open frame, lower shelf and casters create a practical piece that moves easily between serving and occasional-table roles. The underside retains the branded identification for Andreas Tuck and Hans J. Wegner.
The designer and his legacy
Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) was a leading figure in the Danish Modern movement. Trained as a cabinetmaker and internationally celebrated for designs such as the Wishbone Chair, Wegner combined an understanding of wood and craftsmanship with a commitment to useful, simplified forms.
This trolley expresses that approach through its rounded framework, sculpted tray and thoughtful construction—features that make an everyday household object both useful and visually distinctive.
From midcentury entertaining to today
Comparable AT-48 examples are generally catalogued as circa 1960 or 1960s production. Serving trolleys of this type brought coffee, tea, drinks and refreshments close to guests, with a removable tray for carrying and presenting service and a lower shelf for additional tableware.
That same flexibility makes the design relevant today, whether used for entertaining or positioned beside a favorite chair.
