Charming pair of carved and turned oak candlesticks, finished in a wonderfully decorative limed oak.
Each has a classical urn-shaped candle cup above a ring-turned collar and long tapering fluted column, raised on a substantial stepped circular base. The pale limed finish has been worked into the grain and carved detail of the oak, giving the pair a softly aged appearance and highlighting the fluting and turnings particularly well. Their restrained neoclassical proportions make them ideal for a dining table, mantelpiece, console or bedside setting. The pair are presented in good decorative condition with light marks, rubbing and tonal variation to the limed finish as photographed, all of which adds to their character. A very usable and attractive matching pair of traditional oak candlesticks.
