A handsome and beautifully proportioned deep-buttoned leather footstool, upholstered in wonderfully rich oxblood red leather with darker antiqued shading giving the hide considerable depth and character. The generously padded square top is traditionally buttoned in the Chesterfield manner, with softly rolled edges and finished around the lower border with a continuous row of decorative brass studs. Deep-buttoned leather stools of this type are firmly rooted in traditional English furniture design and work particularly well alongside leather club chairs and Chesterfield sofas The stool is raised upon four beautifully shaped polished mahogany cabriole legs, terminating in elegant pad feet and giving the piece a distinctly Georgian-inspired appearance. The combination of dark mahogany, oxblood leather and antiqued brass studding is particularly successful, producing the wonderfully comfortable, established appearance associated with a traditional gentleman's library or English country-house interior.
