Paul de Chabot (Paris, 1932-2020) was a French artist trained in architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. A horseman from a young age and connected to a family with a farming tradition in the Beauce-et-Perche region, he found in the horse the central theme of his artistic production. His work includes drawings, lithographs, and engravings, in which he explores the anatomy, movement, and energy of these animals.

De Chabot's horses are characterized by their powerful bodies, stylized lines, and the tension of their movements, which at times seem to overflow the boundaries of the composition. In this work, four horse heads appear in different positions, arranged as if in an academic study that allows the viewer to appreciate the anatomical and expressive variations of the animal.
