A splendid and rare example of a swing-arm wall lamp from the 1960s, a perfect example of transatlantic Midcentury Modern design.
This piece beautifully combines overseas textile craftsmanship with the structural purity of Scandinavian modernism.
The 31-centimeter-high lampshade is an iconic piece attributed to the Danish couple Lotte & Gunnar Bostlund for their renowned Lotte Lamps factory (Oak Ridges, Ontario, Canada). It is crafted using their signature technique: a dense natural cord (sisal/jute) meticulously wrapped around an internal fiberglass support. This process creates a unique texture and diffuses a warm, atmospheric light.
The supporting structure is a swiveling flag-shaped arm made of fine solid teak, typical of Danish craftsmanship of the period.
The design is essential, geometric and elegant, designed to integrate perfectly into a reading corner, above a sofa or as a bedside light in a bedroom. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
