The characteristic colours and striped motifs give the piece a distinctive, authentic look. A particular highlight is the exceptionally well-preserved original paintwork. As the chest was repainted at the end of the 19th century, the original layer of paint has largely been preserved. After carefully removing this later paint, the old paintwork was revealed once more. The result is a cabinet with a wonderful historical character, showing only slight wear on the crown moulding and plinths. The piece is therefore in museum-quality condition. The cabinet still features the original, functioning lock with key and can be locked. Shelves were fitted inside at a later date. Old woodworm damage on the rear has been inspected and treated. A particularly authentic piece of Franconian folk art, with a rare, well-preserved original paintwork. Undoubtedly an exclusive piece of furniture. 177 cm high, 119 cm wide, 48 cm deep.12 See less
