Dating from the 1960s–1970s, these charming pieces recall the iconic naturalistic ceramics of Portuguese artist Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro.

The set consists of six stackable, crescent-shaped plates, each realistically depicting a juicy slice of melon. The sculpted surfaces capture the irregular texture of the rind, the soft appearance of the flesh, and the delicate details of the seeds, enhanced by a vibrant colour palette and distinctive hand-painted decoration.

Made in Italy, as confirmed by the impressed mark on the underside, these whimsical plates combine decorative appeal with versatility.

Their crescent shape, reminiscent of traditional bone dishes, makes them particularly suitable for serving salads, side dishes, and appetisers, including hummus and other dips, as well as fruit and desserts.

The plates are intact, with no chips, and are in good original vintage condition. See less
