Original Art Déco / Mid-Century Table | Unique Figured Walnut | Extendable (130–234 cm)
– European walnut veneer with a flame-like grain pattern | Sturdy construction with a refined patina | Extendable (130–234 cm)
:
An exceptional example of European design from the interwar period. This authentic Art Déco dining table (dating from the 1930s/1940s) stands out for its remarkably rare, bold, and striking European walnut veneer.
The "flader" (book-matched) grain arrangement creates a stunning, flame-like pattern across the entire surface.
The piece features tapered legs—a hallmark of the era—and elegantly rounded corners on both the main tabletop and the extension leaves. The table has been meticulously stripped of old finishes and treated with a high-quality, eco-friendly hard wax oil, which enhances the deep contrast of the wood grain.
Condition, Craftsmanship, and Patina:
Structurally, the table is solid and stable. Please note: the legs are permanently bonded to the frame and cannot be detached (the structural fasteners have been reinforced over the years). The piece must be transported as a single, fully assembled unit, which ensures its absolute stability—the table does not wobble and has no loose joints. As an authentic antique, the tabletop bears the marks of its long history (documented in detail in the close-up photographs):
• Three darker spots resulting from the passage of time, with slight wear to the veneer on one of them.
• Subtle dents and signs of use accumulated over the decades.
• Minor surface cracks and a small loss of veneer along the edge of one of the extension leaves. Importantly for collectors, these areas have been rendered completely smooth, flat, and imperceptible to the touch. The vintage veneer is stable and firmly bonded to the underlying structure. The application of an eco-friendly oil has helped to protect and stabilize the surface, ensuring the tabletop’s durability.
Dimensions:
• Height: 76 cm / 29.9"
• Width: 90 cm / 35.4"
• Length (collapsed): 130 cm / 51.2"
• Length (fully extended): 234 cm / 92.1" (the additional rounded extension leaves increase the total length by 104 cm / 40.9")
An exceptional piece of furniture that will serve as a striking feature in any modern, eclectic, or historically-styled interior.
