20th-Century Meissen Porcelain Gravy Sauce Boat with Attached Underplate in 'Pink Rose' Pattern
About This Piece
This large, elegant one-piece porcelain gravy boat (sauce boat) with an attached underplate was manufactured by the prestigious Meissen Porcelain Manufactory in Germany during the 20th Century. Crafted in the iconic Neuer Ausschnitt (New Cutout) form, it features the world-famous, hand-painted "Meissen Pink Rose" decor (known in German as Rote Rose).
The central motif displays a masterfully shaded, naturalistic pink rose blossom accompanied by fine green leaves and delicate rosebuds. This specific version is beautifully designed without a gold rim (ohne Goldrand), emphasizing the brilliant white color and sleek glaze of the premium Meissen hard-paste porcelain.
The underside of the base features the famous underglaze blue Meissen Crossed Swords mark. Due to minor factory irregularities in the porcelain body or glaze during the firing process, the mark features two cancellation incisions, designating it as official factory 2nd Choice / 2. Wahl.
