This is a beautifully crafted rectangular wooden tray featuring intricate mother-of-pearl (nacre) inlay work. Crafted from a dark, richly grained hardwood with a deep reddish-brown patina, the tray is designed with a raised gallery edge. The top rim is accented with small, evenly spaced dots of light-colored shell inlay.
The center of the tray is beautifully decorated with a detailed nature scene. Two birds with iridescent green and purple wing accents are depicted—one perched on a leafy branch and the other in flight. They surround a central cluster of blooming flowers, including a prominent pale yellow blossom and smaller pink/red flowers. The scene is grounded by stylized, swirling rock formations in white shell inlay. The natural grain of the dark wood provides a striking background that makes the iridescent shell artwork pop.
