Crafted from a dark, richly grained hardwood with a deep reddish-brown patina, the tray is designed with a raised gallery edge detailed with pierced, stylized cutouts. The top rim is accented with small, evenly spaced dots of light-colored shell inlay.

The center of the tray is beautifully decorated with a detailed nature scene. Three birds are depicted amidst branches bearing pomegranate fruits and blossoms. The artisan has utilized various tones of iridescent shell—including bright white for the leaves, fruit, and one of the birds, pale yellow for the birds' heads and bodies, and striking, vibrant green and purple for their wing feathers and tails. The natural grain of the dark wood provides a striking background that makes the iridescent shell artwork stand out beautifully.

The tray is solid, substantial, and features a smooth finish. It serves as a stunning decorative accent or a functional piece for serving tea and organizing small items on a vanity or coffee table.
