Afra and Tobia Scarpa, an Italian husband and wife team, worked together from around 1960 for Cassina, B&B Italia and Flos. Tobia was the son of the architect Carlo Scarpa.
Designed in 1969, the Soriana sofa subsequently won the Compasso d’Oro in 1970. Its soft, generous upholstery is folded over a steel frame and held in place by polished chrome clamps creating a statement piece still relevant today.
Newly reupholstered in a warm brown Italian cotton velvet by Alessandro Bini, this sofa keeps the full, relaxed shape that makes the design so recognisable.
Materials: Cotton velvet (Alessandro Bini, Belvedere), upholstery, chrome plated steel
Origination: Italy, 1970s, with original Cassina paper label on the underside
Condition: Very good. Reupholstered in a durable, stain resistant cotton velvet. Very comfortable and ready for daily use.
Dimensions (approx.): Height 70 cm, width 170 cm, depth 95 cm, seat height 35 cm This piece has an attribution mark,
