The Danish architect, furniture designer, and artist is known for his distinctive, powerful designs in solid wood, which are now considered part of Scandinavian Brutalism. This table is among his most refined works and is rarely found on the vintage market—especially complete with its original linen cloth.

The table is made entirely of solid oak and requires no screws. All connections are ingeniously designed twist joints: the supports are screwed into pre-milled recesses and lock together precisely—a construction principle that impressively combines function and design. The wooden components are finely crafted yet deliberately retain strong, archaic forms, giving the table its characteristic Brutalist presence.

The tabletop folds open in the center via brass hinges. Concealed beneath is a natural linen cloth suspended within the frame, serving as a newspaper rack and practical storage for blankets, books, or magazines.

The table has been carefully cleaned and refurbished, and the brass hinges have been replaced. It is sturdy and ready for immediate use.

We also have two armchairs and a footstool from the same Tage Poulsen collection. These are also available as a complete set in a separate listing – a rare opportunity to acquire a complete seating group by this designer.

Condition: Very good vintage condition – cleaned, refurbished, and fitted with new brass hinges, including the original linen cloth. A rare collector's item of Danish craftsmanship for exceptional interiors.

Large and exceptionally rare coffee table designed by Tage Poulsen in Denmark in the 1960s. The Danish architect, furniture designer and artist is known for his distinctive, powerful designs in solid wood, today associated with Scandinavian Brutalism. This table is one of his most ingenious works and rarely appears on the vintage market – especially complete with its original linen storage cloth.
Crafted entirely from solid oak, the table is built without a single screw. All connections are ingeniously designed twist joints: the beams are turned into pre-milled recesses and lock precisely into one another – a construction principle that unites function and design in a remarkable way. The wooden parts are finely crafted yet deliberately kept in bold, archaic forms, giving the table its distinctive brutalist presence.
The top folds open in the middle on brass hinges, revealing a natural linen cloth suspended within the construction that serves as a magazine rack and practical storage for blankets, books or magazines.
The table has been carefully cleaned and refurbished, and the brass hinges have been replaced. It is sturdy and ready for immediate use.

We also have two matching lounge chairs and an ottoman from the same Tage Poulsen series. These are also offered together with the table as a complete set in a separate listing – a rare opportunity to acquire a full seating group by this designer.
