Large Vintage Meissen Porcelain Bonbonniere / Lidded Sugar Bowl in 'Weinlaub' Pattern, 1930s-1940s
:
An elegant and substantial porcelain bonbonniere (lidded candy box or large sugar bowl) crafted by the prestigious Meissen manufactory in Germany. This piece features the timeless and highly collectible 'Weinlaub' (Full Green Vine Leaves) pattern, characterized by its vibrant, underglaze green vine leaves beautifully contrasting against the crisp white, high-quality porcelain.
The vessel features a classic bulbous form resting on a short footed base, accompanied by its original, perfectly fitting domed lid topped with a distinctive, decorated ring knob.
Creator: Meissen Porcelain Manufactory
Design / Pattern: Weinlaub (Green Vine Leaves)
Place of Origin: Germany
Period: Mid-20th Century (circa 1930–1950)
Dimensions:
• Height: 14 cm (approx. 5.5 inches)
• Diameter: 13.5 cm (approx. 5.3 inches)
Condition Report:
Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. The glaze remains bright and reflective. The delicate lid and its top knob are in pristine shape with no damages.
Note on Authenticity: The underside bears the authentic underglaze blue Meissen crossed swords mark. It features a single grinding incised slash just below the swords, indicating a factory second-choice classification (2. Wahl), typical for pieces with minor, nearly unnoticeable production variations. A beautiful, cabinet-ready addition to any high-end porcelain collection.
One incision; I see no cause for concern – the condition is very good, practically perfect. This piece has an attribution mark,
I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity
