A sky-blue Citroën 2CV rests at the curb of a gray Parisian façade, its rounded fenders and pale hubcaps set against shop windows glowing in apricot, coral and amber. A pedestrian with a copper quiff walks at the right beside a small white dog, and a blurred figure slips out of frame on the left. Podolsky practiced architecture for more than thirty-five years, and the carved pilasters, striped awning and clean perspective of the street show it. The brushwork stays loose and sunlit, a contemporary impressionist take on an ordinary afternoon, with the handwritten title still visible in red along the lower left edge.
At sixteen by twenty inches it suits a hallway, a home office or the wall beside a dining table. The blue car pairs well with navy upholstery, walnut and warm brass, and the amber windows echo lamplight in the evening. A good choice for a Francophile corner, a kitchen nook or a library shelf wall where small, narrative pictures gather.
Oil on canvas, 20 x 16 x 1.5 in (50.8 x 40.6 x 3.8 cm). Signed with initials in the lower corner.
Miguel Podolsky paints in oil on stretched canvas, working from the sketchbook he carries with him and from places he knows. Built in layers of visible brushwork, his contemporary impressionist pictures put light, color and atmosphere first, while an architect's sense of composition and proportion holds each scene together. Strokes stay broad and direct, with thin, scumbled passages in skies and water set against thicker paint in foregrounds. Each canvas carries his monogram, MP, in a lower corner.
Miguel Podolsky is an Argentine-born artist based in California. For more than thirty-five years he worked as an architect, a career that continues to shape his painting through a strong sense of composition, proportion and spatial balance. He is a contemporary impressionist who carries a sketchbook with him and paints whenever there is a chance.
His oil paintings explore light, color and atmosphere across landscapes, seascapes, urban scenes and vintage cars, often finding harmony between the built and natural worlds. Drawing on his South American roots and his many years in the United States, he paints scenes of the California coast, the Caribbean and beyond with a warm, optimistic eye for everyday moments.
