Crafted from a dark, richly grained hardwood with a deep reddish-brown patina, the tray is accented with small, evenly spaced dots of white shell inlay along its undulating edge.

The center of the tray is decorated with a classic, auspicious nature scene. On the left, a detailed white crane stands upon a stylized rock, while on the right, a pale yellow deer is depicted amidst a landscape. A verdant green, textured pine tree anchors the left side, and a pink, moon-like disc with trailing clouds sits to the right.

Prominently inlaid across the upper center are four large characters in shimmering white shell.
