Crafted from a dark, richly grained hardwood with a deep reddish-brown patina, the tray is designed with a distinctive undulating, scalloped edge and rests on bracket feet.

The center of the tray is beautifully decorated with an aquatic motif consisting of four intricately detailed goldfish. The fish are crafted from shimmering white mother-of-pearl, with textured scales and flowing, translucent fins. Each fish features distinctive red eyes made from contrasting inlay material. They are arranged in a balanced, dynamic composition surrounding a central, stylized aquatic plant motif, flanked by two small pieces of iridescent green and purple shell. The top edge of the tray is accented with small, evenly spaced dots of white shell.
