The piece is expertly carved from a warm, honey-amber colored stone (traditionally known as Tianhuang), which exhibits a waxy, lustrous finish and natural, veined textures throughout.

The carving features a dynamic dragon winding around a central, smooth sphere or "pearl," with smaller mythical beasts or lion-like figures climbing the textured base. The artisan has used fine incised lines filled with dark pigment to highlight the scales, facial features, and swirling cloud motifs, adding depth and contrast to the smooth areas of the stone. The sculpture is mounted on a custom, dark polished wooden stand.

Notably, there are incised calligraphic characters on the lower section of the stone and side, adding an artistic and historical element to the piece. This is a substantial, heavy object that serves as a striking centerpiece or collector's item for a shelf or desk.
