Own an One of A Kind original painting by renowned artist Elsie Driggs*.
Elsie Driggs (1898 - 1992) was an American painter known for her contributions to Precisionism, America's one indigenous modern-art movement before Abstract Expressionism, and for her later floral and figurative watercolors, pastels, and oils.
Presenting a captivating mid-20th-century abstract watercolor rendered in soft washes of yellow-green and blue, accented with a single stroke of red. The composition interlaces the recognizable forms of a coiled French horn, complete with its finger-valve cluster, a violin or viola body, and a bow — a semi-abstract 'exploded' still life that speaks to the modernist fascination with music and movement. Loose, wet-in-wet watercolor passages are layered beneath fine pencil and pen contour lines, lending the piece a sense of lyrical motion.
The work is presented in a vintage carved wood frame with a distressed silvered finish, beneath glass, and set within a wide cream mat — all elements that read as genuinely aged rather than reproduction. The piece is being offered as attributed to American modernist painter Elsie Driggs, known primarily for her Precisionist industrial works but also for a body of smaller, looser watercolors on musical and figurative themes.
Please note: Signature is clearly legible in the lower right within green paint stroke, but this attribution is unconfirmed — buyers who wish to pursue formal authentication are encouraged to do so independently before purchase.

Signature is clearly legible within a paint stroke of the lower right, but this piece is presented as 'attributed' to Elsie Driggs. The frame shows wear to its silvered paint finish and chipping at the corners, true to its vintage character. The mat also shows light foxing. No tears, losses, or restoration are noted by the seller; buyers should review photos closely and ask any condition questions prior to purchase. less
